Kind words for Damnation
Two points in posting this:
- Brew Like a Monk examines Trappist, Abbey, and other strong Belgian ales and the beers they have inspired. Russian River Damnation is not a copy of any Belgian beer, even Duvel, but the book details how the beer was born and how it is brewed. Ongoing, I hope that we can discuss beers that aren’t in the book, that maybe haven’t even been brewed yet, but that are cut from the same cloth.
- I don’t think we need to look outside the beer loving community to justify the attention we give these beers, but it is nice to see Damnation get attention in one of the top-rated food blogs. The wider an audience that better beers reach the easier it is for all of us to get these beers.
With that in mind, here is what appeared at Fork and Bottle:
Damnation from The Russian River Brewing Company, a Sonoma micro-brewery, is my latest local indulgence. It ’s a Belgian-style Strong Golden Ale. It was available at the 2nd Slow Food Fast Food Picnic and it was great with a hamburger. It’s smooth but has a golden malty characteristic which I like alot and just a hint of bitterness. It comes in 750ml bottles with a cork and cage.
