Hoegaarden protest
Granted, the Hoegaarden brewery has little in the way of a monk connection (although Pierre Celis did once produce a contract beer for Achel). And the “white” beer style isn’t covered in “Brew Like a Monk.”
But those who turned to protest plans to close the Hoegaarden brewery where Celis revived a dying beer style are fighting for tradition - and that’s worth our attention.
