Living up to the labels

This might be a bad precedent to set, but these labels are too nice not to point out. Don’t expect to find listings of every new Belgian or Belgian-inspired beer here but perhaps it will be possible to start listing more.
In any event, above you’ll find a label for Brother Thelonious from North Coast Brewing Co. in California. To the left the future label for Holy Otter from Otter Creak brewing in Vermont. Holy Otter, one of Otter Creek’s World Tour beers available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft, isn’t due out until July so there isn’t much else I can tell you about it.
Brother Thelonious is stronger (9% abv) than the organic Cru dOr that North Coast brews for Whole Foods, which is more along the lines of a dubbel. Sorry, but can’t provide tasting notes yet, but plan to soon and will write more then about how the beer was developed.
For now, from North Coast:
The beer is being released in conjunction with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz (www.monkinstitute.org), and the brewery will make a contribution to the Institute for every case sold to support jazz education.
“Being a huge fan of Monk and his music has made working on this project something special”, said Doug Moody, North Coast’s Senior Vice-President and National Sales Manager. “We’re honored to be associated with a world class organization like the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and feel that this terrific beer will represent its namesake well.”
Both labels give the beers something to represent well.

Any idea if the North Coast Belgian Style will be available in New England?

Should have a better answer for you next week, when orders for the next batch need to be in. You might ask wherever you usually buy North Coast beers to lean on their distributor.

Wow, looking forward to trying out the Otter Creek triple…do you know if they have an plans of releasing this as an organic triple at Wolavers?

A couple of quick additions.
Otter Creek has released Holy Otter, so look for it on the East Coast.
North Coast has released Brother Thelonious to East Coast vendors.
