Iron Hill hosts Belgian tasting
Here’s the press release:
On Saturday, January 27, at 4 pm, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, at 3 West Gay Street, will host another of its popular Brewers Reserve Tastings, which will showcase Belgian style beers brewed by Iron Hill and similar beers created by some of the area’s other top breweries.
“Beer may have been invented by the Egyptians, but the Belgians perfected it in the Middle Ages,” says Chris LaPierre, eead brewer at Iron Hill’s West Chester location. “Today, brewers from all corners of the globe continue the rich beer-making traditions developed centuries ago in Belgian monasteries.”
Iron Hill reserve beers will include: The Quadfather; The Cannibal; Barrel Aged Imperial Wit; Fe10; and more.
Some of the other beers will include: Dubbel by Independence; Puckerfish by Flying Fish; Strong Golden Belgian Ale by Yard’s; Mad Elf by Troeggs; Tripel by Stoudt’s; George’s Fault by Nodding Head; and more.
In addition to presenting the region’s best Belgian beers, the event will also feature a special three-course, Belgian-themed menu and beer pairings that will include: Salmon Carpaccio, with micro greens, avocado, citrus honey and black pepper, paired with Troeggs’ Mad Elf; Herb Roasted Pork Prime Rib, with apricot glaze, cheesy grits, haricot verts, sweetened turnips and pearl onions and grain mustard jus, paired with Iron Hill’s Imperial Wit; and Apple, Maple and Pecan Bread Pudding, served warm with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream, paired with Sly Fox Ichor. The three-course menu and beer pairings will cost $40 per person.
Notice that Iron Hill isn’t limiting the menu to its own beers.
