Ommegang adds director of production
Brewery Ommegang has hired Philip Leinhart as director of production. Leinhart is responsible for oversight on all aspects of brewing and bottling. He manages all daily operations in both brewing and packaging. Brewmaster Randy Thiel continues to develop new beers, oversee quality control, and manage Brewery Ommegang’s ongoing expansion project.
Leinhart’s brewing experience includes managing brewing for Manhattan Brewing, as well as working for Commonwealth Brewing and Harpoon Brewing in Boston, and The Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Most recently he gained extensive experience at Anheuser-Busch as brewing supervisor, quality assurance supervisor, and in implementing a Siemens Process Control System in the fermentation department.
“Bringing in Leinhart is a logical next step in the brewery evolution,” Thiel said in a company press release.” Ommegang’s mission is to create fine handcrafted beers, and the brewery must now develop the people, facilities and processes to do so on a larger scale. Leinhart’s skill and experience are a perfect match for the brewery’s new needs and we welcome him to the Ommegang family.”
